A source close to the situation told ‘AFP’ on Friday that Paris Saint-Germain will not comply with the league’s ruling to pay Kylian Mbappe 55 million euros in back wages.
In the increasingly acrimonious dispute between Real Madrid star Mbappe and the team he left this year, a French league appeals committee has tried to mediate. Mbappe has requested the amount, which he claims consists of many bonuses in addition to the last three months of his pay.
However, the 25-year-old had consented to waive the amount in August 2023, according to PSG, which is controlled by Qatar. The lawsuit appears likely to continue because PSG has blatantly refused to comply with the league’s directive to reimburse their former player. Mbappe’s representatives have been contacted by “AFP” for comment.
Mbappe has not been named by Swedish police, but sources in Sweden indicate that he is being investigated for rape after visiting Stockholm earlier this month.
In anticipation of his first El Clasico, the match against Barcelona that is customarily the Spanish league’s most anticipated game of the season, since joining the European champions in June, Mbappe practiced in the Spanish city on Friday. On Saturday, Real Madrid will host Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The star forward was getting ready, according to coach Carlo Ancelotti on Friday. “He seems very calm in the way he is getting ready, he has confidence in his own ability, and I think he will give us a lot tomorrow, as always,” Ancelotti stated.
After first joining PSG on loan from Monaco in 2017, Mbappe scored 256 goals for the Qatar-owned team, winning the World Cup as a youngster in 2018. At the age of 18, he ultimately made the 180 million euro move to PSG.
Mbappe led PSG to the 2020 Champions League final, where they were defeated by Bayern Munich, and helped them win six Ligue 1 championships. Despite scoring a hat-trick against Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, he lost to Lionel Messi’s Argentina on penalties.
